We can reasonably compare your body muscles to an engine. When your muscles are running you achieve movement….its that simple. Your muscles move you not your lungs or heart. Your brain directs the choice of movements and your organs support the engine with fuel but all movement is muscular.
The difference from a standard engine is yours is organic. This means it is far more susceptible to lack of use. Furthermore because it is an organic “squishy” system it can be tough to get going from a standstill. Weak muscles are especially difficult to get pumping and contracting. Know this though – once you get your engine working it immediately begins to tune itself for efficiency.

Your muscle engine is designed to work because it has to not because you want it to. For most of human history your muscles were forced to work vigorously everyday until they wore out. We solved the random overuse problem but this has encouraged underuse. It is now up to each of us to insist our muscles get driving our health. It is now up to us to crank over that engine and make it run hard enough to stay strong. It might feel like it sucks sometimes but the alternative is letting your main mode of transportation run down which is exactly like wearing it out. When your engine fails your health fails.
Be well, be strong,
