It is really quite puzzling how few people who exercise never exercise their neck. At our Ottawa personal training studio we have utilized the Nautilus 4-Way neck machine since day one. Neck strength and stability is so important for spine health. A weak neck causes not only pain in the upper back but also the lower back. The concave curl in your neck is directly related to the same type of curve in your lower back.

You can somewhat mimic the exercises in the video by using manual pressure as seen in the photo above. Start slowly and gently and build up pressure as you go. You can also press the back of your head into a wall and hold isometrically for short 5 second reps.
