Passion – Intelligence – Hard Work

Modern life contains a lot of noise and a lot of distraction, often we overlook straightforward ideas in favour of ‘New and Improved’. In our personal training as well as our lives in general the framework is simple:

  1. Passion – for things to go where you want them to the way you want them to takes drive, energy, motivation…whatever you want to call it. Doing things you are passionate about and finding passionate reasons to infuse into all your doings is essential. Passion makes it all worthwhile at the end of the day and helps assure you maintain momentum through the roughest patches.
  2. Intelligence – Pardon the pun but this isn’t as much of a ‘no brainer’ as you might think. Intelligence isn’t a given, you may consider yourself smart but lack of logical application, personal bias and plain old failing to do ones homework will ruin outcomes. We try our best to avoid taking intelligence for granted and stick to the basics of a rational approach.
  3. Hard work – Passion makes hard work feel easier and intelligence helps you maximize your efforts, still hard work cannot be avoided. The more you avoid the root workings the higher the chance of failure. Nothing replaces hard work – passionate, smart application still requires real effort.

Hoping, wishing, trying to copy, getting caught up in comparison, looking for an ‘angle’, avoidance, scatterbrained attacks etc are all ways to assure long term failure. Find what you truly care about, think it through carefully then put in the basic hard work. Rinse and repeat.

Be well, be strong,

Andrew and Tierney
