A Lack of Independence

The saying goes “what you do now echo’s in history”. The health problems you face after 70 started in your 30’s. What you don’t take care of now will be who you are later on. It’s that simple,.

The confusing part is we accept that we all age thus it’s a baked in excuse to “live for the moment”. Seniors are just old and suffering from aging right?

A more honest and scientific view is:

How you age is a choice.

Your quality of life is largely determined by how physiologically fit you are. That stands whether you’re 30 or 70. Staying strong matters every year of your life, it is always a foundational plus. The difference with aging is the less you do to stay strong the less independence you have to make that choice.

Don’t set yourself up to be a slave to a frail body, what you do now will matter then. Whatever age you are the time for strength is now.

Be well, be strong,

Andrew and Tierney

I really like your posts and they often inspire me to keep lifting weights as I enter my early 60s.

However, the picture you posted in this one – is clearly an AI generated picture. Look at the hands in the bottom right hand corner of the photo – they are all messed up.

If you are going to encourage me – then show me what is realistic for someone my age – something that feels real and attainable – based on real people and real bodies.

Thanks for all your great work!

Marlene (who now lives in Winnipeg, otherwise would be training with you guys)

Thank you kindly, I used A.I. for the pic. Unfortunately regular style photo’s do not get shared by social media (we have a decade of experience blogging). I wish they were but thats the nature of the beast I guess. Much appreciate your taking the time to comment!

I’m 65 years old and just had a partial knee replacement. I regret doing things that I thought were exercise , like running and biking. I’ve always done strength training and will now focus on that.
